CAD Logo2Robert Garza is an instructor in the Computer Aided Design department at Southwestern College. Teaching CAD 220, CAD 222 and CAD 230 evening classes. These courses cover 2D drawing and 3D modeling using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.

What is CAD?

CAD stands for Computer Aided Design or Computer Aided Drafting. CAD can be used to create accurate drawings and designs for a wide range of fields. Some of these include: Architecture, Circuit Design, Engineering, Fashion Design, Infrastructure, Interior Design, Jewelry Design, Landscape Design, Machining, Product Design, Set Design, Transportation Design and many more.

What is AutoCAD? AutoCAD Drawing

AutoCAD is an industry standard CAD software program developed by Autodesk. AutoCAD has gone through over 20 releases since it was first introduced in 1982. AutoCAD 2007 brought a new interface for 3D modeling that made it the easiest version yet to create and visualize 3-dimensional designs.

Who should enroll?

Everyone is welcome, whether you are an engineer, architect, student or you just want to learn how to use AutoCAD.

CAD 220 & CAD 222

In CAD 220 you will be led through the basics to the most common used tools in AutoCAD to create 2-dimensional drawings. CAD 222 builds on what was learned in 220 and uses those as well as new skills to create 3-dimensional models. The current version of software used in both courses is AutoCAD 2008.
